There are times when I don’t want to determine what to do for my workout.
Sometimes I’m tired, out of ideas or simply not motivated to exercise.
I know that if left on my own, I won’t get a very good workout. I’ll be lazy and devote the majority of time to the warmup and stretching. I’ll fail to push myself and not get as much out of the hour. On those days, I take advantage of an app on my smartphone. When I purchased a new jump rope system, the app was included. The system is an innovative style of jump rope fitness. The set includes one set of handles that is interchangeable with ropes of different weights. I have a quarter-pound, half-pound, one-pound and two-pound rope that attach to the handles by way of a metal clasp. It’s quick and easy to switch from one rope to the other. While the heavier weights require more exertion and the lighter ones allow for a very swift pace, they all rotate very smoothly. The beauty of the app is that it guides me through a strenuous workout. I can choose between beginner and advanced level, and the workouts last anywhere between fifteen minutes and half an hour. I like that I can preview the different demands of the workout before committing to it. Along with jumping rope for set intervals, these sessions also include squats, mountain climbers, burpees, push ups and plank holds. During the workout, there is a countdown clock on the phone letting me know how long before I switch to the next requirement. Most intervals last between twenty and thirty seconds with a brief rest period in-between. At the end of the workout, I know how many calories I’ve burned.
